CHAPTER 03

UNTAPPED POWER

As we move away from our conscious minds remember this: we can get too cozy with our conscious. It is with us constantly, whispering in our ear each moment of every waking day. The conscious knows what it wants. It controls the way we act and react. Sometimes too much so.

It is when we finally stop reacting to the bombardment of our external joys and challenges, and listening to our conscious mind’s constant chattering about those events, that we begin to become acquainted with our true power.

It is only when we silent the blaring sounds of our daily existence that we can finally hear the whispers of truth that life reveals to us, as it stands knocking on the doorsteps of our hearts. —K.T. Jong

A change in your consciousness is not measured in time or effort but in awareness. Become aware of everything surrounding you, then begin to turn inward. Why? So you can meet your silent partner, the subconscious mind.

Repeat this line: My partner in success is my subconscious mind.

Get familiar with that affirmation. For inside your head is the untapped power of the subconscious mind. It is not a power you must acquire. Already it is in your possession. Release the frenetic, reactive drama of the conscious mind and begin allowing the inner guidance of the subconscious to have its say. It will emerge slowly like a giant whale skimming just below the surface of the ocean before breaching into view in a magnificent display. As the subconscious gains our attention, consciousness expands. Our vibration rises to a higher frequency. A shroud is lifted so that our immediate surroundings are less important than the interchange with the greater whole. Where previously you may have been drawing a blank in your search for meaning, these new frequencies will carry to you understandings and truths that through depth of feeling you’ll know to be true. Lose the cynical veil that so many of us begin to develop. Cynicism doesn’t make us more clever than the rest, it holds us in the vice grip of criticism and disappointment.

Start to see the good in everything. Notice the beauty all around. Don’t respond to aggressive or inconsiderate behavior with dislike or contempt. To do that, you are allowing it inside, where it affects you. Meet it with an eye that registers the inherent beauty, the pure light that resides past the façade.

So what does this subconscious mind do exactly?

First, It keeps us alive. All our body functions are regulated without any conscious effort on our part. Blood pumps through our veins, we digest food, we keep breathing. We don’t have to think about it, the subconscious does that for us.

Secondly, the subconscious is like a massive hard drive. If it’s happened to us, the subconscious has kept a meticulous record. Each and every thought, event, smile, caress, song, smell, image and emotion and millions more like them are all etched in the subconscious, where we can learn to access them with practice.

And there’s more. Our mysterious inner mind is also in charge of internal guidance systems. It speaks to us through intuition, insight, dreams and creative solutions. If you’ve had a hunch that paid off, or the answer to a sticky question arrive to you with clarity and certainty, you can thank your subconscious mind, your ever-faithful and trusted advisor.

Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives. — Sidney Madwed

This is why it is so important to control our conscious thoughts.

The relationship is like a farmer and his field. The conscious mind chooses what seeds to put in the vast fertile soil of the subconscious. Your habitual thoughts, your closely held beliefs, your pet peeves, your joys and worries, whatever you are constantly thinking, that is what you are planting. You only have to look within to understand the fortune or misfortune that grows as a result. You reap what you sow.

Plant a garden in your mind. During a contemplation within the next two days begin searching for a visual plot. You may have to dig a little. Find the most fertile soil in your mind. Your center of creation. You may have to clear some overgrown brush to find it, but there it is. A sacred place.

Make arrangements in your mind to keep it pure and protected from any harsh elements, parasites or unwanted intrusions. Then begin to prepare the soil. There may be something hidden beneath the surface you don’t want there. What your plot looks like is up to you. It can resemble dark rich earth, or it can be a shimmering plot of liquid gold. Use your imagination.

Now plant four seeds. Plant a seed of beauty. Plant a seed of power. Plant a seed of love. Plant a seed of enlightenment. See the seed in your mind. Watch yourself carefully plant and nurture the seed and journal about the sprout that will emerge. It may take a day or even a week for it to emerge in your mind. When it does emerge shower it with light and love. Sketch it in your journal. Write about its form. In your mind it may emerge as a miniature mighty oak, or a face of someone you love. Continue to nourish your creations and guard against anything your mind might conjure to harm their growth.

Eventually your plot will expand. But this is now ground zero for your spectacular inner creations.

Your subconscious mind truly is your partner in success.

Don’t forget to click the mark complete button when you have finished completing your journal.
